Now download the following files to make a bootable Clonezilla Live USB flash drive:kernel-3.4.164.tar.bz2vmdeb-4.0.0-5.tar.bz2usb-install-data-4.0.0-5.tar.bz2clonezilla-live-4.0.0-5.tar.bz2usb-install-tools-4.0.0-5.tar.bz2usb-install-tools-4.0.0-5.txt
For example, the Google Pixel devices have their boot ramdisk in the recovery partition. If you want to flash the boot_firmware.img file to the device you can open a shell in the recovery mode and use the adb command line to flash the file:
adb push boot_firmware.img /sdcard/
Reboot the device in boot mode, hold volume up button and keep holding it until you see Google splash screen, then release the volume up button. You will see the recovery menu with “reboot” option. Select reboot and wait until the device reboots to the recovery.
Once the device boots into the recovery menu, select Wipe Data/Factory Reset option. Then select Wipe Cache/Dalvik Cache and make sure it completes successfully. Now you can select Wipe Dalvik Cache / Cache.
This method is used to extract files from the virtual disk of a VM having an operating system and the virtual disk is attached to the VM. This method can also be used for disk images of other file systems, such as, NTFS.
A non-bootable operating system is not a good idea to use this method. If the second VM is a bootable VM, it is better to use the Set up the secondary boot options of the first VM to be able to boot the second VM. And after the second VM boots, the VMDK disk of the first VM can be mounted.
In this method, the file system of the first VM is assumed to be compatible with the file system of the second VM. For example, on Windows machines, you can mount a virtual disk having an NTFS file system.
After running the second VM, you can use the Windows Explorer of the second VM to access the disk of the first VM and to copy files. The copied files will be saved in the same directory of the first VM.
Make sure the size of the USB flash drive or USB hard drive is more than twice as large as the size of the source VMDK file. If you want to extract the embedded descriptor from the vmdk file, you should extract a portion of data starting from the 512th byte. 827ec27edc
