A large amount of in-game currency has been flooding into the accounts of some New World players, with no apparent reason for the influx of coin. Given some recent updates and various changes to New World's economy, this has come as a huge gift to some players, as well as a source of criticism for Amazon Game Studios from dissatisfied fans, according to the company.
The amount of money received by several of these players also appears to be consistent, as evidenced by several posts on the New World forums from players who either claim to have received the coin or who claim not to have received it. According to the developer, some community moderators and managers have also responded to these claims with an explanation that is currently being investigated.
As reported by those who have reported the issue online, the New World November patch appears to have begun compensating some players with 300,000 New World gold coins at random, according to their accounts of what happened. These massive handouts have been reported by players who have no connection to the war declarations that were the subject of the patch's compensation program. This has been met with disapproval, particularly following a response from Community Moderator Pneuma that some players interpreted as making light of a bug that has the potential to disrupt the game's economic system.
On the game's official forums, as well as on the game's official Twitter account, Community Manager Tosch has addressed the sudden issue with New World gold in the game. At the time of this writing, Amazon Game Studios appears to be still investigating the problem, with a resolution and additional information expected soon. For the time being, it appears that the compensation intended to be distributed in the most recent patch was tampered with in such a way that more coin was distributed than expected, as well as to players who should not have received this additional currency in the first place.
Given the responses from players who either received undue compensation or never received any coin when they were originally promised that it would be recovered, Amazon Game Studios' future appears to be up in the air. At this point, it is likely that a rollback to a more stable version of the game is currently underway, as the most recent New World updates have caused issues that go beyond what was intended to be a simple compensation for war declarations. Although many players are concerned about losing their progress or these 300K coins as a result of the developer taking such drastic measures in an attempt to correct the bug, this is not the case for everyone.
